Queen's Walk Window Gardens

On the odd days for the past 3 weeks I have been helping out on a really fun project on London's Southbank which opens officially tomorrow. It is called the Queen's Walk Window Gardens and is on the walkway between the Southbank Centre and the Thames.
Wayward Plants are a lovely organisation who do all sorts of projects and site specific installations relating to urban gardening and growing food.

This year, the Southbank Centre's summer festival is called Festival Of Neighbourhood and it runs until September.
I took some pictures of the window gardens in progress...

This was my day one on site

  making the wheelbarrow storage boxes...

end of day scene..

 the windows arrived...

My job was to decide where they should go

This is what we were aiming for each time. It was very satisfying when we managed it...

After screwing in the windows

coming along...

Painting the lids of the wheelbarrow boxes...

the herbs arrived!...

...and the veg...

Last day...

This part is an upside down room with rhubarb...

Finally, here it is without the fencing and open to the public!...

If you are in the area this summer do check it out! there's lots to see.
